MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A summary of action in the Alabama Legislature on Thursday, the 26th meeting day of the regular session:
HOUSE:
—Spent much of the day stalled in delaying tactics by Democratic members trying to slow down consideration of various issues still to be considered in the final days of the 2012 session.
—Hosted a ceremony honoring Marshall Space Flight Center for its contributions to the state.
—Approved a bill to give Alabama restaurants incentives for buying farm products from the state. Goes to Senate.
—Passed a bill to allow the state's Parking Deck Authority to possibly build a new parking deck for the Gordon Persons Office Building for state employees in Montgomery. Goes to Senate.
—Approved a bill to allow the spouses of military service members to expedite any professional licenses or certificates when the spouse is transferred to Alabama. Goes to Senate.
—Approved a bill raising court fees to raise money for courts. Goes to Senate.
—Passed a bill that requires insurance companies to more clearly describe to homeowners what their policies do and don't do. Goes to Senate.
SENATE:
—Had its opening interrupted by immigration law protesters kneeling at the entrance to Senate.
—Gave final passage to a bill creating the crime of looting during a state of emergency. Goes to governor.
—Passed a bill to make it a crime for a day-care worker to leave a child unattended in a vehicle. Goes to House.
—Approved a bill to create the crime of computer tampering. Goes to House.
—Passed a bill to make it a misdemeanor offense to use the Internet or email to impersonate another person with the intent of harming, intimidating, threatening or defrauding someone. Goes to House.
—Approved a bill giving new taxing authority to the Jefferson County Commission to address the county's bankruptcy. Goes to House.
